The General Prosecutor, Alexandr Soianoglo, is accused of complicity in the actions that took place today, April 23, in the Parliament, in relation to the Constitutional Court. A statement to this effect was made public by lawyer Ion Guzun, a former LRCM expert.

Mr. Stoianoglo, The usurpation of state power that is taking place in Parliament today is because of you and the entire Prosecutor’s Office that failed to investigate similar actions in April 2019. You are an active accomplice, the lawyer wrote on a social network.

The head of the European Union Delegation in Chisinau, Peter Michalko, also came with a reaction to the parliamentarians’ actions. He expressed concern about the actions that took place today in Parliament against the Constitutional Court.

Today’s actions in Parliament against the Constitutional Court, including the attempt to change the composition of the Court, are a clear attack on the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova and on the independence of the Constitutional Court, the EU ambassador to the Republic of Moldova wrote.

US Ambassador to Moldova Dereck Hogan describes the events in Parliament as an “unconstitutional attempt to undermine the Constitutional Court by illegally removing Judge Domnica Manole and appointing an illegitimate replacement.”

“In addition, although the vote of the majority of the Parliament for the condemnation of the Constitutional Court is not mandatory, this lack of respect for the separation of powers is a worrying sign for the future of Moldova. Truly independent institutions are a bulwark against democratic slippage, and Moldova should not return to a climate of fear and intimidation, “the US Embassy said in a statement.

We remind you that the coalition recently formed between the PSRM-Șor deputies annulled today the decision regarding the appointment of Domnica Manole in the position of judge of the Constitutional Court.

According to experts and the opposition, however, the decision has no legal effect.

A replacement for Domnica Manole was immediately found.PSRM-Șor appointed Boris Lupașcu as a judge of the Constitutional Court for a term of six years.
