The National Bank of Moldova reiterates its position that the institution actively cooperated with the Prosecutor’s Office, in the context of the investigation of “bank fraud”, repeatedly rejecting the statements of the Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo, according to which the institution did not want to cooperate on these cases. This fact is shown in a letter of the National Bank of Moldova, sent to the President of the country Maia Sandu, regarding some aspects of the process of investigating the “bank fraud”.
Moreover, the National Bank of Moldova claims that the statements of the Prosecutor General undermine the authority of the National Bank of Moldova as a regulatory, supervisory and banking resolution body, a quality that is extremely important for the continued stability of the banking system. Below we present the full letter, received by SafeNews.md, sent to the President of the country Maia Sandu:
We remind that the General Prosecutor Alexandr Stoianoglo declared on February 26 that the National Bank of Moldova would not have the desire to be actively involved in finalizing the file on bank fraud.
