The Vice President of the Chisinau Court, Ghenadie Pavliuc, accuses the General Prosecutor, Alexandr Stoianoglo, of persecuting inconvenient judges and promoting the loyal ones so that they can control them. The accusations can be found in a letter addressed on Monday by the magistrate to the head of state, the president of the Parliament, the Superior Council of Magistracy and the Intelligence and Security Service (SIS). On the other hand, Stoianoglo rejects the accusations, according to SafeNews.md with reference to anticorruption.md.

Pavliuc claims that he is persecuted at the command of Stoianoglo and some of his deputies “in connection with the refusal to cooperate and execute their instructions”.

The magistrate also states that the general prosecutor is seeking his removal from the position of vice-president of the Chisinau Court so that he can control the Ciocana office, where the investigating judges are.

“In order to achieve the objectives and intimidation of judges, the General Prosecutor’s Office, through the Prosecutor General and his deputies, practices the arbitrary ordering of actions against judges of special investigative measures in criminal cases initiated illegally, outside the control of the Superior Council of Magistracy, through actions of provocation, the invention of non-existent cases, in order to take advantage of the appearance of justified actions within the procedures of compromise and blackmail of judges ”, it is shown in the letter signed by Pavliuc.

The head of the Ciocana office of the Chisinau Court specified that at the order of the general prosecutor, a criminal case was also launched against him for disclosing the data about the criminal investigation. The magistrate claims that he had no contact with the respective file and does not know details.

“I respectfully request the Superior Council of Magistracy to urgently take the necessary measures to strengthen judicial independence and defend the judge’s status from the arbitrary actions of the prosecutor general, carried out for purposes other than those allowed by law,” reads the letter signed by Ghenadie Pavliuc.

Asked by reporters of the Anticoruptie.md portal, Maria Vieru, the spokesperson of the General Prosecutor’s Office, told us that Alexandr Stoianoglo rejects the accusations brought by Pavliuc.

Sources from the Superior Council of Magistracy informed us that the address of Ghenadie Pavliuc was received, but there is no request from the general prosecutor to request the agreement regarding the criminal investigation of Pavliuc. The same sources specified that it is rumored that Stoianoglo would give his opinion regarding these accusations during thes Tuesday’s meeting of the SCM.
