The Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office announced that it will not start a criminal investigation in the criminal process initiated on the denunciations of Andrei Năstase and Iurie Reniță requesting the investigation of the circumstances resulting from the video recordings in which Igor Dodon allegedly received a black plastic bag from the former PDM leader Vladimir Plahotniuc. The reason for this decision is that the facts of the persons concerned in the records do not meet the elements of a crime.
Anticorruption Prosecutors say that during the investigation it was not possible to establish the contents of the bag, as well as the subject who made the video recording, which is critical for the criminal investigation and the initiation of a criminal investigation. In this context, the judicial truth was established based on the minimum possibilities of administering the evidence available to the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office, respectively, the solution was based on legally administered evidence.
Thus, as a result of the analysis of the factual circumstances and the assessment of the Anticorruption Prosecutors, based on the legal reasoning, of the evidence administered, the respective criminal case was closed.
The Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office informed Andrei Năstase and Iurie Reniță about their decision, explaining to them the manner and the term for contesting the refusal to initiate the criminal investigation.
If, in the future, the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office will be provided with certain relevant information or evidence that would affect the validity of the solution adopted, the decision not to initiate the criminal investigation may be reviewed and, if necessary, the investigation may be resumed.
We remind you that, based on the two denunciations, the Anticorruption prosecutors initiated a an investigation, in which, as previously announced, the sequences presented on June 5, 2020 by deputies Iurie Reniță and Lilian Carp regarding the alleged illegal actions of the President of the Republic of Moldova, but also the anonymous letter containing “receipts” for money.
It should be noted that, in order to establish all the circumstances, during this investigation, both denoucers were heard, and the anonymous author of the alleged “receipts” did not respond to the summons to appear with the details promised in the press. The allegations of the deputy Lilian Carp, according to which, the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office allegedly had a stick with video recordings for a long time, which were the object of investigation of the present investigation, were not confirmed either.
