ANRE comes with a public appeal asking the public and politicians to respect the independence of the institution. Thus, through a press release, the institution announced that it monitors the process of examination in the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova of the draft Law on Lustration, discussed in the meeting of the Committee on Legal Affairs, Appointments and Immunities and communicates the following.
ANRE is an independent institution, which carries out its activity in strict accordance with the legislation in force, based on European and international best practices. The current members of ANRE’s Board of Directors have been appointed by the Parliament on the basis of public and transparent competitions with the participation of officials from the Secretariat of the Energy Community, the EU Delegation to the Republic of Moldova and other representatives of academia and civil society. The annual evaluations of the Energy Community Secretariat for the years 2019 and 2020, reflected in the corresponding reports, appreciate ANRE’s activity as a professional one with a high degree of expertise. Thus, the Agency classifies publicly speculated statements and accusations as political pressures and forms of direct interference in its work, which threatens institutional independence and jeopardizes its functioning. In the current situation, ANRE urges all political forces and opinion formers to refrain from unfounded manipulative actions or statements, which contravene Community law and the national legal framework.
We specify that the socialists reiterated their position towards the legislative initiative which provides for the dismissal of the heads of the most important state institutions, including ANRE.
