Employees of the Criminal Investigation Section of the Chisinau Prosecutor’s Office complain about the abuse of the Deputy Chief Prosecutor of the Chisinau Prosecutor’s Office, Mihail Pascal. He is accused of giving “inappropriate verbal” instructions and that his actions would affect the “independence” of his subordinates in the pursuit of criminal prosecution, SafeNews.md reports with reference to anticoruptie.md.

The authors of the report claim that they are permanently obliged to report any procedural action performed or to be performed, that they are checked daily in connection with the procedural activity and the solutions adopted.

One of the employees of this section, Nicolae Pîrâu, said that he could not give us details about this report, suggesting that this subject is not for the eyes and ears of the press.   On the other hand, the Deputy Chief Prosecutor of the Chisinau Prosecutor’s Office, Mihail Pascal, stressed that he “has the impression” that the “report” in question was sent to several media institutions, suggesting a concerted campaign against him.

Asked to rule on the charges, not the document, Pascal said:

“If there is such a report, I am also an employee, and I, like them, have hierarchically superior prosecutors. I am not the head of the Chisinau Prosecutor’s Office. I may have certain functional co-reports related to the functioning of a section, but I am not the institution ”.

Finally, Pascal described the allegations as “absolutely aberrant” and that he would not understand the allegations.

In his turn, the deputy general prosecutor, Ruslan Popov, declared for the Anticorruption Portal.md that he was not presented with such a “collective report” from the employees of the Section exercising the criminal investigation of the Chisinau Prosecutor’s Office.
